I thought that I had scheduled the post but obviously not. Anyhow, I was quite pleased to find that not much more sewing before I start stitching it all together. The redwork at the moment is for October, and I am pleased to say that I have completed it and ready to start November’s.
Some of the blocks are sewn together in rows others awaiting sewing but not much to do on that front.

I have a new start today, it is a blackwork design by The Steady Thread and was originally a sew-a-long in 2024 called Spooky Shelves. I like certain aspects of Hallowe’en but not others (especially spiders) so was pleased this design didn’t have any. I think I like the celebration of All Hallow’s Eve when we celebrate the dead and departed rather than the commercialized Sweets and knocking on doors. Each to their own, I just don’t join in. Maybe I’m a Hallowe’en party pooper!!
On to the blackwork design, I had the paperwork design as a paid PDF, but suddenly realized that I didn’t have a piece of 14 count Aida or enough black DMC thread so hurriedly ordered both online. Disorganized!!!
I have started the design from the left hand corner so here is my progress so far..
There are loads of different patterns within this blackwork design and I am loving it!

Secondly this is going to be quick today as computer is having a wobble again. I’m trying to eek it out until this September. Might have to buy early Birthday present.

We post every three weeks our progress so why not grab a brew and peruse the other members blogs to see how they fared.
I am doing a Happy Dance – yes I have finished the Spring Project I was sewing. So it is not the best image slightly crumpled but I wanted to get it out to everyone.
And now for the new project that I have chosen, It is by The Steady Thread and is a Hallowe’en project. I know it seems early but hopefully I will be able to finish it by the end of October. (Do not hold me to ransom on that point).

I have been busy sewing many different quilts as you all know if you have been reading my posts for a while now, I am one of those people who have lots of projects on the go at the same time. It’s just who I am.
Firstly and bit of a happy dance I have finished the quilt top for my Liberty Quilt. It did not come about with out some trauma. Here is a photo taken on my phone at my mothers house (mainly as I don’t have somewhere large enough to lay it out flat). Spot the obvious problem. (Yes one sashing row is up the wrong way.) Now a lot of sewing had been inputted in getting this far, nevertheless I gently cut the offending sashing blocks out(just the coloured ones), turned them around and resewed the line.
This is my first time using Liberty fabric and I love it – everything gels together nicely. I have some Liberty fabric for the backing which is going to be a pieced back and the batting is just waiting to be cut. Might have to do this down Mum’s.
The next item is going to a temperature quilt, and my intention is to use up some scraps as I am trying not to buy new material this year, and also to finish some of the quilts in my awaiting quilting pile.
The colours for the temperature quilt are purple, lilac, aqua, blue, green, yellow and orange if we get some super hot weather – not likely. I am doing half square triangles – one for the high temperature and one for the low. I have also decided to put special moons as a circle on top embroidered with the name i.e Wolf Moon Jan 13. Might also include mine and husband’s Birthday. It will help identify time of year without putting the actual month.
I have been stitching quite a bit these past three weeks despite all the personal problems that have arisen since the beginning of the year. My mother is doing okay – still the odd dizzy spell – has to monitor her blood pressure daily and report to the doctor in two week time. She has a meeting with her cancer team next week so crossed fingers that is all going fine as well.
Now onto the sewing, I have managed a bit on the basket for October (at least I think is October)

Apologies for being late again but at least I have managed to do some sewing amongst all the turmoil at the moment. My mum fainted and hit her head and ended up in hospital for a day whilst they kept an eye on her. The head scan didn’t show any interior problems (ie bleeds on the brain) so that was a relief.
She is just having blood tests etc at the moment so a bit back and forth for my older brother who is the only one who drives. She is doing ok but feels unsteady at times.
On to the sewing, I have managed to sew some leaves and backstitched them and the pink flowers. Here is where I was last time….

Well this is a very late post and my apologies to everyone.
Their is a very good reason why I missed the posting date. My mother fainted and hit her head on the stool causing a nasty 2 inch gash. She went to hospital and my younger brother stayed with her all night as they were keeping her in for observation. I was worrying from a distance with text going back and forth. My older brother (both brothers live at home still), took over from my younger brother and brought mother home later that day. This all happened on the Sunday/Monday hence no post. Visited her on Thursday and she was still seeing flashing lights and sprinkling like snow. We managed some knitting and talked about things but on Friday I received another call from my younger brother who said she was worse again so I said he needed to get her back to hospital. Many tests on eyes later she was dispatched with some eye drops and we were to keep an eye on her (no pun intended). She consequently has two problems – one they want to measure her heart to see why the heart misses a beat. This would be a small operation to insert a micro monitor under the skin with two probes going into the heart. The second problem could be leading to a detached retina – not at that stage yet though. Mother is thinking about the heart thing.
Well I can now post that I finished the September Block – not ironed yet – and started the October Block. Here are some photos …

One of my Christmas Presents was a Gypsy Wool Pressing Mat – haven’t used it yet but blogs and youtube channels I watch have all said a pressing mat is a good addition to the sewing room so hopefully my stitchwork will look better when I iron it.
I have had a busy year – not all of it sewing – however, I have managed to complete a few of my projects, so I will list the completed ones first and then sort through the remainder.
Three lap quilts were started and completed last year. The first was my William Morris Quilt which was a strip pieced quilt using the tube method (as demonstrated by Kate on the Last Homely House You tube channel.) The second was a lap quilt for my mum (to cheer her up). The third was a quilt for my Sister-in- Law who loves gardening, so her quilt featured plants and gardening tools.
The front depicts a raised garden, lawn and flower border, the back is the garden tools.

Front and back of William Morris Quilt – sorry I don’t have a photo of it completed. I quilted each chevron. I’m very chuffed with this quilt.
I also made my Husband a cover for his chair as a cushion behind his head was making his neck ache (angle felt wrong). I had to quickly judge the measurements so no judging about wrinkles on curve
I padded it out a little with 6 scrap pieces of batting so plus side used some scraps. I just quilted it around the borders and secured it with elastic at the back.
Speaking of using scraps I also made a placemat and completed two more cushion covers using the remnants from my Jane Austen Quilt.
