Swans and sygnets

swans.jpg

Hi everyone – I love birds and have a particular soft spot for swans.  One day where I worked there was a river close by and a railway line.  One sygnet mis-judged the overhead cables and landed in the yard.  I managed to calm the poor thing and sat on the concrete next to it for over an hour whilst it drank some water and recovered from it’s experience.  It is hard for a swan to take off from a hard surface, (they need to paddle the water with their feet), and after a couple of tries and quick flapping of wings it took off, circled and away.  I felt good, happy that I could help.

The above picture is a Twilleys of Stamford Design.  It needs stretching and framing. Must save up the pennies.

A sampler

I loved stitching this, although it took ages, it looks antique but obviously isn’t according to my date.  It is stitched on evenweave fabric and I have modified the design slightly although I can not remember who it was who designed it.  I think it will need some stretching before being framed.

The Guitar Player

sax playerHi everyone, above is another project I completed during my dinner hour’s at work.  I love jazz music and there is another image in process of a saxophone player.  They will look so good together when framed.  Hope you like

Image is designed by Hazel Soan via Royal Paris.

Hi everyone, I know it’s been a while – I’ve been busy and away on holiday.  The above stitch work is a project I have been sewing during my dinner breaks at work.  I have never added beads or ribbon to anything I have stitched before – so another first ticked off.

W.I.P Lady Greensleeves

Hi everyone, this is my current project, who knew there were so many shades of green!  The image bottom right is the actual cover – not my finished craftwork, though I hope it will eventually look like that.

I am also proceeding well with my work on Hetty, my parrot.

Will post again soon

American Indian Chief

This was my first large project.  It was delightful how his face came to like, and when I put his eyes in I felt like he was watching me as I sewed the rest.  Sorry about reflections but he hangs in pride of place in the lounge.   Hope you like.
