SAL – 28th Feb 2021

Hi Everybody

I am having a well earned break of one week off work – but I have endeavoured to be very busy on the stitching front. I have done quite a lot of patchwork and also made good progress on the Lady Greensleeves project. So here is where I was last time ……

And here is my progress

Well that is me, why not pop along to our other members to see what they have achieved on their own projects. We all post every three weeks and each member works on their own individual projects – and encourage one another to complete our projects and lessen the UFO’s.

Bye for now

HQAL – 14th February 2021

Hi Everybody

Time is passing by so quickly, I cannot believe it has been three whole weeks since last posting. A little stitching has been achieved and I took the opportunity after removing my hoop to stencil the rope design onto the sand areas and also to stencil one corner just to see if it looks okay.

Here is where I was last time,

And here is where I am now

I am using a Roxanne quilters choice pencil in silver to stencil with. Hopefully it will wash out. Does anybody have a favourite choice of stencilling method? The thread is light aqua colour and is Aurifill 2835. What type of thread do you use when quilting?

That’s is my effort this time, why not pop along to the other members listed below to see what they have achieved on their own individual projects.

Friday finish – spring is just around the corner

Hi ~everyone

I cannot remember when I last done a Friday finish blog, so here goes.

During my lunch breaks at work I have been working on another little project, quite separate from my SAL’s, and this is the finish so far. Incorporated into the design is some fabric that my penpal Emma @ emmacraftsdesign gave me as a Christmas Present (ladybirds fabric). I have some left and I am not sure whether to turn this square on point and use the ladybird fabric in large triangle to square the block. Lots of thoughts rambling around …I am not sure whether to make it into a small cushion or just make a placemat.

Well that is me for now, hope you have a pleasant weekend.

Hi fellow stitchers

I am posting early for a very good reason – Sky persons are turning up today to sort the T.V out and as the broadband is connected to everything and we all know what happens when electronics are fiddled with – yep they do not work as they did before, so my apologies for an early post.

Anyhow, onto Lady Greensleeves this is where I was before …….

And this is my progress

Well that is me, why not pop along tomorrow to see the other members progress. We are a small group of stitchers who work on their own individual projects and we post our progress every 3 weeks. Happy stitching everyone.

A Rose by any other name …..

Hello everyone

I’ve a Friday off – yah!!!,

So I have just spent the past hour laying out the Rose Window Quilt, moving the blocks around so that nothing was the same in any of the shapes. Here is what I consider to be my final layout. (Best laid plans and all that …..) Getting the photo was quite hard as I am not that tall so stood on step-up.

Now I have the hard decision of the border – what colour should I use. Husband thought a plain blue border. At first I thought a blue border followed by an outer red border in plain fabric, but then I thought of using black and splitting the quilt into sections to make it like a stained glass window. Any ideas would be welcome – there is a lot of colour in the quilt.

Well hope you stay safe and happy sewing on a Friday.

Sunday Sew In

Hi everybody

I have managed to finish a project, yippee!!!

I have finished the patchwork cushion, see below. I’m quite chuffed with it.

I found the corners a little difficult but for a first try I’m pleased with it.

The other first today is we have had our first proper snowfall at least an inch now, it’s still snowing so who knows how much there will be when I return to work tomorrow.

Our garden in the snow.

Well that is all for, keep sewing, keep safe

Love

Hello everybody

I have been unwell with migraine again, so little quilting done, but I will show you my start. I have quilted around the pirate ship in the first picture and quilted following the wave in the second. I am using two types of thread, a Gutermann variagated blue/turquoise around the pirate ship and Aurifil no. 4093 and 1148 for the waves.

Why not pop along to the other members projects to see their progress.

Thanks for reading

SAL – 17th January 2021

Hello and Happy New Year to anyone who I haven’t said it to before.

Well at the end of last year I had my finish with the Teacups, now for my New Year reveal

I was so pleased with my “Audrey” cross stitch and had been searching for an image for my husband’s favourite person/actress – so at last I purchased the below cross stitch pdf download from “www.etsy.com/shop/diana70”

However, before I can begin I need to complete “Lady Greensleeves” because that is the only frame Sophia is going to fit. As you can see there is not much to do!! (Last worked on this in October 2019).

So that is my plan so far this year, who knows what we will achieve.

Please pop along to other members blogs to see what New Year adventures they have planned. Happy Stitching!

The Almost “First” Finish

Hello Everybody

I’m not sure if you remember, but in my post Boxing Day Browse I showed a new project and stated that it might become a small cushion. Well it is going to be a cushion but slightly larger than I first envisaged. Here are some photos – it is not technically finished but the patchwork part is finished.

I thoroughly enjoyed making this front panel as it came together quite quickly although some of points were difficult. Practice makes perfect.!!!

I like the design called Heavenly Star, and I have thought about making a large quilt with several of these blocks. Just a thought at the moment as I have plenty to be getting on with.

Well take care and stay safe.

HQAL – 3rd Jan 2021

Hello Everybody, and a Happy, Prosperous and Healthy New Year!!!!

I have chosen something to work on for the start of this year and I have taken the plunge and pin basted the Pirate Quilt – it is the guinea pig I’m afraid – but I hope it will be fun as well.

I am going to hand quilt using a hoop and have decided to use some of the images and sew around those and also to mark out a rope design for the borders of sand and outer red/cream borders. The centre square will have a large “X” sewn across it. Hopefully the red star shape is dead centre. We will see how I fare in forthcoming posts but here are some starter photos

The cream backing fabric was slightly too narrow so I added two strips in a complimentary teal blue colour and then pinned it together. Wadding is by Hobbs.

Well that is me, why not pop along and see what the New Year is bringing to the table for our other members and their individual projects.
