HQAL Sunday 25th October 2026.

Hello Everyone

Firstly my apologies for not posting last time, life not very kind to my health at the moment and also the car has been back in the garage, this time it needs a new head gasket. It’s three weeks now. Getting a bit expensive in the old taxi to work and back. As I suffer from motion sickness it prevents me from going on a bus. Any-hows, onto the important things in life.

A little bit of a change this time, I had to put aside my Temperature Quilt because I needed to purchase some more card inserts. I do re-use the cards several times but I find the ones with narrow points tend to crumble quickest. Instead I decided to push on with the Christmas Quilt. I had purchased some stencils and with my Frixion pen drew out some designs. One design was stars and swirls and the other was hearts and leaves. Hope you can see it on the quilt pictures below. Lots of twisting and turning of the whole quilt. I do not use a hoop just have it loose in my lap. The inspiration in this quilt was from a design in Todays Quilter magazine perhaps two or three years ago.

Hearts Stars

The rest of the quilt is just shadow hand stitches around the shapes, see centre image.

And this is an overview of the entire quilt

The backing fabric will be bought forward to the front to create a binding. Not traditional but I done my husbands quilt like that and it is surviving.

The backing fabric is sheet music images.

Well that is me for this week

This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.
