SAL – 26th March 2023

Hello Everyone

Hope you are well and having fun stitching your chosen project. I have made a conscious effort to get some stitching done in this last week as previous weeks have been occupied by non-stitchy duties.

Here is where I was last time……

Here is my progress ….

So why not grab a cuppa and peruse the list below to see the progress of the other members in our sewing group.

Bye for now

HQAL – Sunday 12th March

Hello Everyone

Well it has been a very up and down week, the weather is all over the place and makes my head ache (I’m very sensitive to pressure changes). It has been the perfect time however to snuggle under a quilt whilst quilting it and therefore I have almost completed 2/3rd’s of the Nashville Quilt. Here are some photos (Sorry that it looks grey but is in fact black)

Back and front of dining booths.

Back and front of Dance Floor area.

Back and front of Stage surround.

Hopefully in next three weeks I will be close to binding and finishing this quilt. (One happy husband).

Bye for now

So happy with sewing …..

Hello Everyone

I have been on holiday from the paid job for a week and have really buckled down and got on with the job. So I am feeling so happy with my sewing, having achieved quite bit on the cross-stitching front and the patchwork/quilting agenda.

So here we go ………

First up is the cross stitch – just a quick mention for the work I have put in on my SAL which will be shown on Sunday in another blog.

Secondly – Sophia is looking gorgeous, she is now complete on the hair and the upper part of her face with just a little around her nose and mouth and the head will be complete. still a lot more to sew but I have made the decision to cut the bottom piece out of the design.

I have rolled it up a little so there is more hair than shown. (Husband really likes it, by the way!!!)

Thirdly – My Jane Austen Quilt has had a lot of attention and below are the pictures to demonstrate how she will be laid out. I have cut out all the shapes required now and three of the side panel blocks are sewn together along with four corner blocks and some interim panels. The centre panel is now complete. Here are the photos ….. oops slight misplacement on last block on right hand side (good job that isn’t sewn together).

I have also been quilting “the Nashville Quilt” for my husband but again pictures and write up will follow in another blog.

Finally – I have also been adding a few lines to the “Memoirs Quilt” side panel area. Those rows on the left within the clips are now sewn together.

On top of all this I went to visit mum and helped her sort the backing for the fairy quilt she has been constructing (my design judged on her idea.) I get to do the mathematics and help cut the material since she had her fall and broke her wrist, it is not as strong as once was.

All the border is complete now and with the backing sewn together she will start quilting it. It is going to look gorgeous on her bed when complete. Now I have to say goodbye as she has given me some more maths to do and ideas to get onto graph paper.

Bye for now and thanks for reading, your support is everything.

HQAL – 19th February 2023

Hello everyone

Well it has been a mixed bag for these past three weeks – good intentions started well in respect of stitching on the Nashville Quilt although I have changed my mind (or rather chickened out of diagonal lines incase they did not come out straight) and stitched on just one side of the small cream squares to get horizontal quilting (no photos this week), and then stitched around the central image on the dance floor area and stitched around every 2nd circled squared from the centre for that area. Just need to change to red to do the outer square. I have stitched around the two chairs and table that are shown on the back of the photo below, also stitched in the ditch around the red lady holding guitar and the red man leaning against the wall.

I think that I come into the category of “Topper” – I like designing and creating the top of the quilt but have little confidence in my quilting stitching. (Room for improvement!)

Aside from that spurt of stitching I have not picked it up again. (Won’t make deadline of Husband’s Birthday now oops!) Partly his fault as he wanted a new Smart TV and I have to be the one to sort things out tech wise as it’s just not his thing. So he basically hi-jacked my sewing time. Hopefully next time I have some improved stitching to show you.

Bye for now

SAL-12th February 2023

Well the year is certainly racing ahead and I have been able to apply myself and achieve a lot of stitching these past few weeks. I have managed to fill in the last part of the relief area as seen on previous post and rolled the frame up and outlined and started to fill in on the next section. Here are the photos

Last time I was here …..

And now I am on this part ……

Well that is me – please pop along to the other sites listed below to see what the other members in our group have achieved .

HQAL – 29th Jan 2023

Hi everyone

I have been removing loads of paper squares from my Nashville Quilt and I am glad to have finished that now and have cut the backing fabric as the length I ordered wasn’t wide enough or long enough I had to piece it top and side. The patchwork top and batting and backing piece are now pin basted ready to start the quilting. My husband is getting quite excited…

So here is the photo of the top laid out sideways on our 3 seated sofa.

I am going to quilt it with diagonal lines on all the small squares and then sew around the inside of the poster art squares. Hopefully that will look alright. The backing is just plain black in case you were wondering what I had used.

Well that is all for now, please visit the other members listed below to see what they are creating.

SAL – 22nd January 2023

Hi Everyone

Firstly, I hope Helen is feeling better.

I have been cross-stitching like crazy and have achieved quite a bit on My Modern Folk Embroidery this session. So without further ado, here is where I was last time – these are more like the true colours.

And this is my progress,

Sorry for tone of lighting, but is a very foggy damp day outside, so tone of light bulb makes it appear quite antique looking.

Hopefully next time I will be scrolling up. Remember I am doing the central panel last.

We are a small group of stitchers who work on individual pieces so why grab a beverage and peruse the links listed below. Happy Stitching!

HQAL – 8th Jan 2023

Hello and Happy New Year to Everyone and a special welcome back to Connie.

I do not have any photographic evidence for my post today as I have mainly been removing the cardboard pieces from the rear of the “Nashville Quilt”. There are a lot of little squares. So the only thing I can show you is a copy from the last post where I showed the finished quilt top

I am not sure how the quilting will go but I suspect hand quilting around every alternate square and maybe a little shadow quilting on the poster art prints or backstitching. Undecided!!!

Well that is me done, so grab a cuppa and peruse the other sites listed below where beautiful creations happen.
