Hello and Happy Independence Day to all American Bloggers

If you are able to party – stay safe.

Now onto the serious subject of this blog – our sewing and I am happy to report that I have got loads done – not just on Lady Greensleeves which I will show in a minute, but also other projects which you can see in another blog.

Here is where I was last time ….

Here is where I am now ….. mainly worked on the path and the tree stump/rock on the right hand side.

Well that is me, thank you for reading and encouraging me with this project. Now please pop along and see the progress of other other members projects.

HQAL – 18th June 2021

Hello Everyone

Well the weather is certainly changeable, the other day bright and sunny, bit too hot for me – caused a Migraine attack – but today and the next few days a deluge of rain. Good Old Blighty.

Firstly, I have been economical with the wadding for my “Daybreak quilt” in that I have sewn the remainder from the Pirate Quilt together using Herringbone Stitch and it just overlaps the quilt top by an inch so I’m not adding an extra border as suggested before. Instead I have pin basted the backing fabric and decided on a feather design for the quilting. The stripe fabric demo’d in the last picture will be used for the border.

The centre stencil – it is the bottom left design that I will use.

I have been busy in the cooler weather catching up on some sewing. I have sewn a little on the Pirate Quilt top, completing one corner quilted in a feather and crosshatch pattern and finished some rope design – time to move the hoop. I removed some quilting on the wave material and have decided to draw a wave design over the top. (No pictures of this)

On other projects have also sewn rows 1 and 2 together on the Rose Window Quilt. Amazingly the seams went together a treat. soooooo!!!! many seams – I must be mad! I think it might get trickier with more weight etc as I progress.

Well that is me for this time – please pop along to the other members projects as we all work on separate ideas.

SAL- June 2021

Hello Everybody

Well another three weeks have whizzed by, either I’m getting slower or time is passing quicker. I have endeavoured to keep stitching slowly but surely. These past two days have been very painful with my shoulder – not sure the sunny weather helps when you have an inflammation in your body.

Without further ado here is where I was last time

Here is where I am now

Please look at our other members projects as we all work on something individual, encouraging each other to complete their projects.

Bye for now

HQAL – Sunday 30th May 2021

Hi Everyone

Three weeks have whizzed by again, but I have managed to sew quite a bit on the “Daybreak” Quilt and have chosen the backing and border. Both of which are Moda “Folktale” and I think they blend with some of the colours in the “Daybreak” fabric beautifully. The bottom 2 rows are sewn together, now I just need to sew the top 2 rows and then sew these sections to the middle row.

Here are some photos

Well that is me for this week, why not pop along to see what other members of our small group have achieved.

This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.

HQAL – day late

Hi everyone

Terribly sorry but I forgot to post. I took the photos and done nothing with them. So wiout further ado this is what I have managed to sew these past few weeks, bearing in mind my shoulder still aches, small squares are all I’m managing to do.

Firstly – laying out the blocks – not necessarily the final plan. Slightly fuzzy.

Last two blocks

Closeups of last two blocks

I have used the wording from the edge of the material which says “Daybreak by 3 Sisters – The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you. Don’t go back to sleep. – Rumi”

Well that is all from me, not decided on backing or binding. That’s for another post.

Please check out what the other members have achieved. We all work on individual projects and encourage one another to lessen the pile of UFO’s

Bye

SAL – 2nd May 2021

Well Hello everybody

I hope you are well and safe. I have rested my shoulder for a whole month and not pressured myself into sewing lots, but this weekend enough time has passed and I decided little and often would get me some results and I achieved more than I thought possible. You never know unless you try.

Here is where I was last time (sometime in March I believe)

And this is what I have achieved.

As an aside – Mr M is recovering well from his surgery – so one operation done, one to go.

Why not pop along to the other projects that the members of our SAL have been doing.

HQAL – Sunday 18th April 2021

Hello Everybody

Apologies for not contacting or posting anything yesterday but the old laptop had a huge wobble something about my side by side configuration.

With a little bit of help from on-line and downloading something to do with an update I have fixed it.

So unfortunately I do not have much to show as my shoulder is still bad.

I resorted to sewing small squares for another quilt that isn’t completely planned just yet.

Hopefully next time I will have made some progress on hand sewing of the Pirate Quilt.

My shoulder is very frustrating.

Please take a look at the other members projects, they are all individual and we encourage one another to complete projects and start new ones.

Bye for now

SAL – Sunday 11th April 2021

Hi everybody

I’m afraid not much happening on this front at the moment. The frame that holds Lady Greensleeves is quite large and it hurts my damaged shoulder to hold it and sew.

Hopefully in another three weeks I will have something to show you.

Please pop along to the other members and their projects as I think at least two people have a happy dance this time.

Bye for now

Sewing – Happy Easter 2021

Good Morning Everybody

Hope you are all enjoying a little rest and whiling away the hours with beautiful sewing projects.

As usual I could not help but start a new project whilst also sewing together the Rose Window Quilt. both projects are light and easy to hold without straining my shoulder. I have managed to sew 2 rows, it’s quite hard getting the seams to match, but practice makes perfect, so they say.

The new project is Daybreak and I purchased a jelly roll and a 5″ charm pack of the same name by 3 Sisters at Moda Fabrics. Here are some pictures, there are 2 blocks of 15″ x 9″ and a centre piece which finishes at 9″ square. The other squares (all 1 1/2″) are not complete yet and I have not designed how the blocks will look. It is a work in progress and since taking the photos I have completed the dark block. At the moment the quilt will finish at 39″ x 24″ without a border but knowing me I will change my mind.

Well that’s all for now,

Daisy
