I am afraid not one stitch done on my blackwork project. I have been working more hours in the office and whilst I have now had a week off it was commandeered for gardening projects. Please take a look at the other members project as we all work in different ones.
Firstly my sincere sympathy to Clair and family upon your recent loss. I hope time helps you heal.
I have managed a little stitching this week as I have been on holiday from the paid job and have been gardening all week since we are having a warm spell. All plants are purchased and planted and the mini vegetable patch is thriving well.
Anyhow on to the sewing.
Here is where I was last time ….
Here is my progress …
Well that is me this week but please hop along to the other blogs to see their progress.
I have managed to sew 2 or 3 threads on my November Red work design by Mandy Shaw of Dandelion Designs.

This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another. If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.
I have recently got the knitting bug again and this time I am knitting a shawl. I started with a little one in shades of brown and copper. Then I looked at a video by Stephen West (a very good tutorial on the daisy stitch and twisted rib) which I then managed to incorporate in my shawl. So here are some photos of my new shawl.
Please ignore crumpled bed cover.
The small bobble stitch really painfull on my hand. I was going to do more rows but couldn’t manage it.
So on this projects I learned three new stitches. Very chuffed with it. I think the tassells really add to it as well.
I hope you are well. I have been beavering away at several projects one of which is this sew-a-long project.
Here is my progress …
This is the November Block. One more Block and then I can iron/press and block all sewing and start the long job of stitching the whole quilt together. I am still in love with this quilt. For those who are new to my site it is a quilt design by Mandy Shaw from Dandelion Designs and is called “The Redwork Basket Quilt”.
Well that is all for now

I have been practising my knitting again. I approach knitting in the same way I approach quilting in that I never work on any one knitting project at a time. This used to be that I ended up with UFO’s of knitting all with the back done as that is where the knitting patterns start. Consequently when I eventually finished the knitting project I either no longer liked it or it didn’t fit me any more. In those cases it was decades later.
However, I have been learning and studying via Youtube how to knit a shawl. I started with an easy cast on at one edge which becomes the neckline and proceed in a garter stitch. I am not a great knitter. fact! The wool was Scheepjes Whirl fine Art in Dadaism. I loved the rich browns and copper . It is not large just drapes over shoulders or around neck.
Next one more complicated but fun. I found Stephen West online. Some really fascinating creations and great tutorials which I have adapted into the next project.
Also downloaded a paid for pattern for some socks. Never knitted socks before. Also a paid for pattern for a pair of fingerless mittens. Both of these from Thread and Yarns Ravelry site.
See what I mean about bulk knitting projects although to be fair I have only started the two shawls at the moment
The only other project is a knitted blanket which is what brought the knitting mojo back from its long hiatus.
I thought that I had scheduled the post but obviously not. Anyhow, I was quite pleased to find that not much more sewing before I start stitching it all together. The redwork at the moment is for October, and I am pleased to say that I have completed it and ready to start November’s.
Some of the blocks are sewn together in rows others awaiting sewing but not much to do on that front.

Lots of pressing to be done as well.
Well that is me this week, please peruse the other members blogs as we all work on different topics and use different skills.
I have a new start today, it is a blackwork design by The Steady Thread and was originally a sew-a-long in 2024 called Spooky Shelves. I like certain aspects of Hallowe’en but not others (especially spiders) so was pleased this design didn’t have any. I think I like the celebration of All Hallow’s Eve when we celebrate the dead and departed rather than the commercialized Sweets and knocking on doors. Each to their own, I just don’t join in. Maybe I’m a Hallowe’en party pooper!!
On to the blackwork design, I had the paperwork design as a paid PDF, but suddenly realized that I didn’t have a piece of 14 count Aida or enough black DMC thread so hurriedly ordered both online. Disorganized!!!
I have started the design from the left hand corner so here is my progress so far..
There are loads of different patterns within this blackwork design and I am loving it!
Well that is me for this post. Please peruse the other members projects as we all work on different designs.
I love to share my Quilting projects with other Quilters. My goal is to share my progress on projects that I am working on. I would love for you to follow along with me during my endeavors. I hope you enjoy watching me tackle new techniques and projects. Hopefully you can learn from my "hiccups" and mistakes and make your journey easier.
