Hello Everybody

Well what can I say , it would appear that I missed out a week and forgot to post on the other SAL that I am participating in.

However, I had a fairly successful week of staying at home making loads of Rose Window Blocks and also made some good progress on the Teacups Cross Stitch. My mind was buzzing with ideas as I had taken delivery of some new stash and I needed to plan out how this new quilt design was going to look. Once that was settled, I could sit back and actually get on with some sewing.

Amazingly I have sewn the side panel on the Seasonal Quilt, so only have to finish the other side and sew and few end pieces on the top section and it will be complete. The weather was very changeable when I was off work, first it was too hot (34 degrees C) – hardly anything was accomplished and then it stormed and cooled down to a comfortable 25 degrees, so I set too …… also part of the stash was the material I found and will use as backing to my Seasonal Quilt. (So happy when I saw this online at Sew Hot – it is called Rainbow Sprinkles Swiss Dots by Andover Fabrics)

First some Rose Window Blocks – I now have 52 completed blocks and loads more pieces cut and sorted. (Only another 44 to make ……….)

Hi Everybody,

This will be a bit of a jumble but I will try to classify it. First of all the garden, we have made some alterations as the Clematis was not happy where we had put her, so having bought some vareigated leaved Privet called “Auream” we installed 3 plants against the fence panel. the contrast of the leaves against the green panel are fabulous. With the 3 spare plants we infilled the coniferous hedge where bits had died off.

Co-incidentally that is the side of the barbecue that I built, husband done the back and other side. not bad he!he!

Also I very luckily chose the week off when the day lillies have blossomed with several blooms on consecutive days, first 4 flowers, then 2, then 5, then 2 – amazing display.

Now onto sewing, I have been busy sewing the Rose Window Quilt, cutting out new piles of material ready to be sewn together.

Trying to plan the layout and not get duplicate blocks is quite difficult, though not disastrous.

So the above two pictures would in effect be lines 1,2,3.

Next are a group of six blocks making the next 3 lines eventually. The top lineois the last line of the previous picture.

Hope everyone is still safe and well.

As for sewing haven’t done a stitch on the Teacups cross-stitch, but have made a few more Rose Window Blocks. (No pictures yet!)

I am off work on holiday staycation so hopefully, I will be able to get on with crafting.

Again it is very hot here in Blighty and I have made little progress what with work being at full pelt still. (When is it going to slow down – just for a breather.)

This is just a short post to show what I have been up too in the little spare time that I have at the moment.

Refurbing our lion statue (called Aslan by the way, not original but fun anyway)

Here is the before photographs

I had previously painted him with some spare paints which we mixed to get the golden colour and now …..

And this is what he looks like now I have refurbished him ….

I left the algae on the concrete and just painted over to give him texture.

Not perfect but good fun.

Hello Everybody

Nothing is altering in my life at the moment, just lots of hard work and lots of aches to go with it. However, I managed to start sewing the edging on the Seasonal Quilt yesterday. Yippee!! Unfortunately Google/Wordpress Editor are playing up so cannot provide any evidence to back up my claim with a photograph.

My how time flies by!

I have not done one stitch on my Seasonal Quilt, mainly because it is too hot (not that I’m complaining), therefore with everyone’s blessing I am deciding to change my Work in Progress for this stitch-a-long to my cross stitch “Teacups” which is much easier to do whilst I listen to music or the T.V.

Therefore and without further ado, here is where I was ….

It is beginning to look very colourful.

Hope you are all still safe and well.

Alas I have failed to do any more sewing on The Seasonal quilt, what with it being another intolerable heat wave here in the UK. Also there have been a good number of redundancies at work and also people on holiday so have had extra duties to perform as well as the extra work I was doing anyway. So only worked on Small Rose Window blocks and my Teacups cross stitch.

Hopefully, I will have performed better for the next time.

Work has slowed a little, so I feel less frazzled, and have managed to sew a little in the evenings. I have actually completed one of the side edging to the Seasonal Quilt.

So this edging will go along the side of the quilt at the top of the previous photo, and then just need to finish one for the opposite end. The side (to the right of the previous photo) just needs 8 half hexagons added to its border and then it will be complete. Therefore, I may do a small happy dance as the top part of the quilt will be finished.

We are a small group of like minded stitches who encourage one another with their individual projects, so please pop along to see the other members craft work.

Hi everybody

Hope you are well and safe, but most of all beginning to enjoy meeting friends and family. I visited my mother for the first time in 10 or 12 weeks. We have spoken on the phone regularly but visual is much better.

During this troubled time I have helped my husband in the garden, sometimes after work but mainly at the weekend, particularly when heavy work was involved i.e replanting some shrubs into larger pots, four hands are always better than two. We purchased two new pots and I painted them green as you can see from the photos below. We then filled the pots with the correct soil and half – buried the Camelia in the top garden. She is looking better already (I named her Camilla).
