Hello Everybody

Again time has passed quickly, but it has been quite eventful unfortunately not in a good way. My Husband hurt his back so I worked from home again, I had a Steroid Injection in my Shoulder but it hasn’t made any difference so not too much stitching done, and my Mum fell over and broke her wrist badly and has just been operated on with the surgeon having to put some plates and pin in place. However the success depend on mum’s bone as she has osteoporosis and he warned her that she might loose some feeling in her hand. Quite damning news for her as she has always stitched. Her job was making leather, material gloves until she retired.

Well enough of that and onto my sewing

Hello Everybody

As you will have seen from an earlier post that I have been busy purchasing new stock and setting up panels for quilting, mainly because I need the practice. However, I have not neglected the Pirate Quilt so here are some photos of my progress. The corner is quilted using Gutermann Col.111 and the waves are quilted using Aurifil 50/2 Col.1148. The rope design on the sand area (see previous photos) is quilted using Gutermann Col.4014 a variegated thread. I don’t have a preference on thread at the moment being new to quilting but if anyone has a favourite weight or make of thread then let me know.

Hello Everyone

As promised in my SAL news on Sunday, I have been sewing additional items not relevant to a SAL. So being me, I have started something new before finishing any of the other projects I have previously been working on, but hey why change a habit of a lifetime.

In no particular order, we begin ……….

Flower Fairy lap quilt – this is basically a large panel which is backed with a tossed image of flower fairies and will be bound by a small flower print already incorporated in the panel image. I have pin basted it ready to quilt.

Next up – Daybreak is pin basted ready to quilt and in addition to this lap quilt I have made a small cushion front using leftover 1.1/2″ squares. See photo.

Next – The Rose Window Quilt – I have nearly finished sewing all 96 blocks for this quilt top and have sewn rows 1 and 2 together and then completed rows 3,4,5,6,7,8,10,12. Row 9 and 11 have one block each to finish and then be sew together in their relevant row. No photos.

I purchased some black wadding and having bought new stash I have put together informally the following quilting ideas.

This last one will be a quilt for my husband.

Also bought some white wadding and cut it to size for the Seasonal Quilt. I have enough left to put together for the first quilt top I designed My Bee Quilt – just need to sort out backing fabric for that quilt. There is another project which I cannot give information about as the recipient sometimes reads my blog, but it is another large panel lap quilt which I intend to stitch highlighting the depiction on it. Sound mysterious doesn’t it!

Last but not least this is the new start – My Jazz Quilt which includes two half cross stitch panels that I have made but never used. The fabric behind the image might be used for the backing or I might use plain black – undecided!!!

Now onto the serious subject of this blog – our sewing and I am happy to report that I have got loads done – not just on Lady Greensleeves which I will show in a minute, but also other projects which you can see in another blog.

Hello Everyone

Well the weather is certainly changeable, the other day bright and sunny, bit too hot for me – caused a Migraine attack – but today and the next few days a deluge of rain. Good Old Blighty.

Firstly, I have been economical with the wadding for my “Daybreak quilt” in that I have sewn the remainder from the Pirate Quilt together using Herringbone Stitch and it just overlaps the quilt top by an inch so I’m not adding an extra border as suggested before. Instead I have pin basted the backing fabric and decided on a feather design for the quilting. The stripe fabric demo’d in the last picture will be used for the border.

The centre stencil – it is the bottom left design that I will use.

I have been busy in the cooler weather catching up on some sewing. I have sewn a little on the Pirate Quilt top, completing one corner quilted in a feather and crosshatch pattern and finished some rope design – time to move the hoop. I removed some quilting on the wave material and have decided to draw a wave design over the top. (No pictures of this)

On other projects have also sewn rows 1 and 2 together on the Rose Window Quilt. Amazingly the seams went together a treat. soooooo!!!! many seams – I must be mad! I think it might get trickier with more weight etc as I progress.

Well another three weeks have whizzed by, either I’m getting slower or time is passing quicker. I have endeavoured to keep stitching slowly but surely. These past two days have been very painful with my shoulder – not sure the sunny weather helps when you have an inflammation in your body.

Hi Everyone

Three weeks have whizzed by again, but I have managed to sew quite a bit on the “Daybreak” Quilt and have chosen the backing and border. Both of which are Moda “Folktale” and I think they blend with some of the colours in the “Daybreak” fabric beautifully. The bottom 2 rows are sewn together, now I just need to sew the top 2 rows and then sew these sections to the middle row.

Hi everyone

Terribly sorry but I forgot to post. I took the photos and done nothing with them. So wiout further ado this is what I have managed to sew these past few weeks, bearing in mind my shoulder still aches, small squares are all I’m managing to do.

Well Hello everybody

I hope you are well and safe. I have rested my shoulder for a whole month and not pressured myself into sewing lots, but this weekend enough time has passed and I decided little and often would get me some results and I achieved more than I thought possible. You never know unless you try.
