Easter Wishes and Sewing Sunday

Hi Everybody

Happy Easter and hope you are all well and safe.  As a migraineur and not being particularly religious I do not indulge in chocolate so flowers are my thing!  The chocolates are for my husband.

Card sent by our daughter Jo and husband.  soooo cute!!

Okay some more cute pictures from internet and Pinterest.

To start I have been busy sewing my teacups cross-stitch and my Rose window Quilt blocks which I can say I am thoroughly enjoying.  I am grateful that I have a past-time which I can enjoy indoors or out in the garden during these troubled times.

Teacups – here is where I was ……

I like how you can see the rippling effect of old fine bone china cups.

These are some new blocks for my Rose Window Quilt

The top squares are now complete the bottom two are in various stages of completion.

It is a beautiful blue sky, sunny day in the eastern part of Britain at the moment, although rain is forecast for this evening, but I think enjoy every moment as it stands, so to speak.

The garden has sprung into life after all the wind and storms.  We had storm damage in that it broke our lovely rhododendron, and a piece of the Pieris Forest Flame.

Well a little photo heavy but light hearted.  Hope some pictures cheered you up and if not here is a little prayer that I discovered on the internet.

Best Regards

Sorry i’m a day late with this update, it just slipped my mind, i had prepared the photo’s ready and then just forgot.

Well, i have managed to sew the bottom border to the main body of the quilt, so i was quite pleased with my effort.

This is where i was …..

Sew-in Sunday

Hi everyone

Hope you are all well and keeping safe.  I am not going to talk about the big bad world as we are all living it anyway where ever we are.

Instead I am going to focus on sewing, of which, I have achieved a plenty.  On my SAL I have completed one edge (previous post), but my real focus has been on my “Cup” cross stitch and my Old Rose Window Quilt.  I have cut up loads of pieces ready for making into the squares (it’s the bit I enjoy the most, choosing which materials are going together), and have a variety of squares finished and others in various stages of completion.

Last time I posted these were my calculations:

“Each square measures 6.5 inches, and I have calculated that I will need 8 blocks for the width and 12 blocks for the length.  (for a quilt measuring 52 inches by 78 inches , minus any borders).

That’s 96 blocks  –  I have 14 completed blocks and 15 semi finished.  Wish me luck!!”

Well now i have 23 completed and 10 nearly completed, 5 ready to be sewn together having been tacked to paper templates:

Here are some pictures

1st stage  – pieced and semi-pieced

2nd stage – corners need attaching and finish attaching edges on small squares to octagon pieces.

newest material configuration –  all needs sewing together – and finally 17 completed squares.  (Above is 2nd one in from left on top row – sewn together) (2nd one in from left bottom row – corners need attaching)

It is going to very colourful.

Also i mentioned the Cups cross stitch

Sewing Sunday

Hello everybody

First of all, I hope everyone is healthy and following the government guidelines for  this terrible coronavirus bug.  My best wishes to anyone suffering at this moment in time.  I hope you make a full recovery.

Well I am lucky that in this clamp down on social gatherings I can happily amuse myself with my hobbies.  I have been busy with my projects, but to confess I haven’t actually done a single stitch today, so in no particular order:-

Cross stitch – my cups cross stitch is developing slowly but surely.

Here is where I was at the end of February …..

Patchwork – I have been busy cutting out the parts required for my Old Rose Window Quilt.  It takes quite a long time sorting out the various colour ways but here are a few examples of some that I have prepared

And here are a few in various states of completion

HQAL -March 2020

Hello everyone

I have made slow progress with my Seasonal Quilt but as people remind a little progress is better than no progress and i am one step nearer to finishing the top of this quilt.

I sewed a few of the pentagon shapes that form the side edges, and also sewed half of the bottom border tot he main quilt.

IMG-3164 (2)

That’s me for this post.

SAL – March 2020

Hello everybody

I confess to not much going on with this sew-a-long this month so far.  I have only sewn a part of the bottom border to the main quilt.  I have been sewing the end pieces in white that are  required to finish the sides with a straight edge.

So here are some pictures of the part mentioned above

Well that is me, why not pop along to our other members to see what progress they have made.

If you wish to join our group please contact Avis (1st name in list below).  We post our progress every  three weeks and offer encouragement and praise to our fellow members who are all working on their own individual projects.

Hetty photo shoot

Hello Everyone

Hetty here again.  As I have been a really good girl, mummy decided to have a photo shoot with me as the star model.  So here are a few pictures from our fun day and as you can see I respond well to instruction, always a good point for a model.

And here is me misbehaving

Bye for now

Hetty

Sewing update

Hello everybody

I have been busy sewing blocks for my Rose Window Quilt, and it is fair to say that this quilt does not grow as fast as the hexagon quilt.  Speaking of hexagons – I am still working on the border of the Seasonal Quilt but that is for another post.

Here are some images of the various blocks.  They will not necessarily stay in the order shown.  (Quite a few pictures actually).

Also I have been sewing the cups cross stitch which is slowly developing.

HQAL – February 2020

Hello Everybody

I hope everyone is well and been kept busy stitching.

I have made fair progress on my Seasonal Quilt and enjoying how it is coming together.

Last time the top border had been added and now I have joined the Autumn Corner to that area making the top section complete apart from the half hexagon pieces

main quilt - autumn corner

Also I have sewed the bottom border together and it just need attaching to the main quilt.

bottom border 2 - feb 2020

bottom border - feb 2020

It is just the right sort of weather in England to be cosied up in a quilt stitching it together.  I do hope that nobody has suffered badly in the flooding.
