Hello Everyone

Well the sunny weather has certainly slowed everything down apart from the plants on the garden, which have taken up some of my precious sewing time. However, I have managed to complete the first row of my “Fruits of Plenty” and scrolled down to the second line. Here are some pictures – this is where I was last time …..

And this is where I am now ……

You will note that the triangle on the right is incomplete as I am undecided as to go with the pattern as is or to do all the side triangles the same design as depicted in the left hand side triangle.

I have to say that I am really enjoying this cross stitch so on that note please take a peek at the other member’s projects as we all work on different designs that are either unfinished pieces or just something new.

Hello Everybody

I hope you are well. Firstly we will start with the sewing as I have been beavering away at my Parrot Quilt Top to the point where I will be sewing it together.

Here is a picture of a very nearly happy dance before quilting it begins ….

My husband gave me a huge compliment saying “it was the best I had done to date.” I haven’t thought about the quilting design at all for this. It is certainly the brightest colour palette I have used and my first involving Batik fabric. (It will not be my last – I like that Batik fabrics do not fray like ordinary cotton does.)

Secondly, I have been sewing the cross stitch of Sophia under the watchful eye of my husband who gazes at her fondly. I do not have an up to date photo as she is downstairs and my husband is resting.

Last but not least, me and Hetty have had cuddles. The hot spell has been quite exhausting for her, I have changed her water more often so she can keep cool. (Hetty has always bathed in what is supposed to be her drinking water – don’t ask – I have tried running tap water and a sprayer/mister, but she likes to bathe her way). Today being slightly better I have been playing with her, but she still nearly nodded off as I stroked her head. I think she is hormonal at the moment. Very into chewing things. Here are some pictures ..

Such a beautiful bird – I’m biased of course.

Well that is all from me on this Sunday, better get to sewing my SAL piece otherwise I’ll have nothing to show.

Hello everybody

Still melting in our heatwave. It appears to affect my Ipad which doesn’t want to take a photo of my sewing, therefore, I can only say that I have been sewing lots of 1. 1/2″ black squares either in strips of 2 or 4’s which will then be sewn together into strips of 8. I need 12 strips of 8 to complete the stage area. Black is very tiring on the eyes and I need good lighting when sewing together.

The middle section has not had any attention and the bottom section will need more black squares around the poster art prints and also around the car block. Here is an old photo of the general layout of the top and middle sections.

Hello Everybody

Hope you are all managing with the hot spells of weather, I seem to suffer a huge migraine attack as the hot spell arrives (must be close to Mother Nature – pressure goes up outside and my body pressure goes up as well). Does anyone believe in Spontaneous Combustion?

So due to this attack I have achieved as much as I would have liked.

Hello Everybody

Hope you are well.

I have been busy sewing together small squares for the “Nashville Quilt” and also started to join together the blocks in the top section. Here is how it looks now …..

The large block on the right is not joined yet as I thought it might be easier to make all the little black squares into a block 8 rows by 12 columns and then join that to the bottom of the guitar block and then sew the seam down altogether. The Nashville strap line will be next and the top section will be complete. The middle section is half done and needs more ivory squares. Then it will be back to making little black squares for the bottom section. Such fun!

Hello Everybody

I have made good progress on my “Parrot Quilt”. It has been re-designed twice and I am now happy with the layout. (Does that happen to anyone else when they side track the initial layout for something else?) It is a very colourful quilt – well the birds themselves are extremely colourful – and my first using batiks, which I am loving.

So here is a picture of my design ………

Most of my designs use muted colours, but I quite like how bright and cheerful this looks.

Hello Everyone

I have been a busy bee these past three weeks – real determination to get on with things. As you will see in the before and after photos I have been working on both sections of the quilt. Firstly, I was disappointed with the stage section so unpicked and awaited the arrival of some Gutermann Sew All Thread in Black that I had ordered. The middle section got my attention whilst this was happening and I sewed another side piece in the red to the dance floor and prepped some more squares for the top section of this block. Also prepped and sewn together were some ivory squares.

I’ve had a “me” day today, and have filled my time so far with preparing a new project – part of the long stitch project – Summer. This should stitch up quite quickly.

Secondly I started to cut up the parrot design for the “I Love Parrots” quilt and have decided that I need some different fabric to go with it – possibly some batiks – so that has ground to a halt. This will a very brightly coloured quilt.

Thirdly, I put some stitches into my HQAL project – more of that on Sunday.

Fourthly, I stitched another round onto “Ring a Roses” quilt (goes back a little bit – UFO status I think) but hey! I put some work in on it.

Last but not least, I stitched 2 more blocks for my “Gail Pan Honey Bee Quilt”, I really love this design.

Hello everybody

I have been busy sewing lots of different projects and have made fair progress with “Fruits of Plenty” by Jacob de Graaf of Modern Folk Embroidery. So without further ado here is where I was last time ……..

I’m so glad that I chose to work in shades of Purple and whilst it looks intricate in some areas it is quite quick to sew, not having all the colour changes as in some projects.
