Hi everyone

Hope your Friday has been ok – mine has been rather busy.  Awoke quite early and proceeded with stitching Lady Greensleeves, then done some colouring of the owls.  My husband has repaired the window frame to the rear of the property and also repaired the door fresh hold leading outside.  Then we went grocery shopping and I had to get some bird food and sanding sheets for her cage.

After a very nice chicken burger meal in Burger King we returned home , packed the groceries away, and then I washed the car – not the way hubby would have done it but at least it looks cleaner – no doubt it will rain shortly judging by the gloomy clouds that have appeared.

Now I am sewing up the squares of the “Beside the Sea Quilt” and they are either in 4’s or 2’s so fair progress in that quarter.

I also have news of a new start – this time it is Audrey Hepburn – I hope I do her justice.

She is my favourite.  Does anyone know of an image for Sophia Loren?  – my husband worships her.  Also perhaps one for “The Duke” John Wayne?

Ferns

The ferns look a bit weird at the start –  to the point where my husband thought something odd was growing on the rhododendron – I assured him they were the young fern fronds.  Sure enough 3 days later and they are growing upwards.  (Little Shop of Horrors – plant in that film comes to mind)

Hope everybody had a lovely Easter Break – mine was quiet and peaceful, and enjoyed the sunny weather.

As you know I suffer migraine headaches and one of the major allergies that go with that is being allergic to chocolate.  Therefore, the Easter Egg thing has never really enthralled me.  My husband bought me some flowers instead – well to be correct I chose them – he paid.  I got him a little Lindt Easter Bunny as he already had some Cadbury’s Cream Eggs and a large Easter Egg from his daughter.  See pictures below:

I love the frothy fragility of gypsophelia (is that how you spell it) and the little  creamy white roses are tinged with green.  They are so tightly packed waiting to unfurl.

Well that is all for now.  Going to do some sewing before the Holiday has passed.

 

Hi there, Hetty here – sunning myself.

It’s my Birdday  23rd April – I know that is tomorrow but mummy is back to work tomorrow-  (birthday for birds) – I am 15 years old and can be quite the naughty teenager.  Hopefully if it is not too breezy my human mummy says that I can go outside in my cage in this nice sunny Easter Break.  I have a harness but progress in me wearing this is slow – can not get used to it yet and so I have to stay in my cage when outside as I am fully flighted and get spooked easily – do not want to loose my mummy through flying away and getting lost.

Now for my presents:-

I have one of those wheelie things in my cage but have shredded most if it.  That other one looks fun and chewable he! he!  And I spy food yummy!!!

Ahh!  new toy making parts and some new rope for my rope ladder swing.  Yippee!!!!

Hi Hetty here,

Hope all you human bird lovers and others are having a wonderful Easter Break.  I am certainly happy that my human mummy can spend more time with me.  Lots of time to cuddle and snuggle.

First 1 stole a kiss then it was time for head scratching and chewing mummy’s thumb nail.

Then after a fly around settled back on mummy for a preen (give a girl some privacy please!).

Finally another kiss and sniff .

I am on a roll after the Bee Quilt Finish – I have continued to sew the Beside the Sea Quilt in sections of four.  This is how it looks so far:-

Again ironing needs to be done to flatten the seams but I’m rather tired now so that will have to be a job for another day.

Hi everybody,

I have been very busy putting the final touches to the “Bee Quilt” and have finished the front piece.  I was so nervous of the middle section not lining up with the top and bottom half.   Also the centrepiece will be joined to the main centre quilt (lavender) by poppers.  I was worried about when it would get washed so made it removable.

Here is a close up of the centre piece.

It all needs a jolly good iron but apart from that I am rather chuffed with myself as this type of sewing is definitely pushing the boundaries.

Amidst all the photography and playing with Hetty (See her post – later), I have been sewing, knitting, and colouring.

Lady Greensleeves has not been ignored – and I have achieved a fair bit of filling in the gaps and the foliage at the back.

Knitting wise – I have knitted the back until starting casting off for the sleeves.

And last  but not least, I have coloured in some more of the owl design.

Hello

I thought that I would share some spring photos with you.  They are mainly photos of trees and their leaves unfurling and little shows of blossom and flowers.

 

Apple tree and blossom – that is not an overly large live blue tit but one that my Husband got and screwed to a branch.  Birds do not seem to care that it is there.

Canadian Maple Tree and blossom – has huge burnt copper and burgundy leaves.  I will take some pictures as the season develops.

Oak Tree – this is where the ring necked doves want to build their nest.

Rhododendren – such a gorgeous shocking pink.

The raised garden with winter flowering pansies – a shame to move them yet.  We will wait till end of next month to plant up this bed.

This is Ruffles Grave ( R.I.P my lovely pet cockatiel).  The bell is the one he loved to play with in his cage.  A deep red rose is planted on top and a bleeding heart is planted at the bottom.  I ring the bell whenever I go near the raised garden and say “hello”.  Silly I know – but you can not be serious all the time. (did that sound a bit John McEnroe!!!)

Just to wish everybody a Happy Easter Break.

Hi Everyone

Well my week started off bad – health wise I suffered a major migraine with total numbness down my right-hand side – it’s called hemiplygic migraine – and totally debilitating.  After the headache had receded and my arm came back into use (Tuesday) I could achieve some sewing and read a little.  My leg stayed numb all week but I did go back to work Thursday and Friday am.  By Saturday the pins and needles feeling had subsided and I was able to get about our property without the aid of the crutch – just limping a little so as not to put too much pressure on that leg.

To stay relaxed I decided to try my hand at fabric pen art.  I had purchased some fabric with a view to trying this new means of creativity.  Having first coloured in a somewhat psychedelic floral pattern – see below:

I then tried my hand at colouring the piece with owls on.
