Sunday Extra

Hi

Once again my time has been filled with various pursuits.  I have finished another book – it was a gentle easy read but very interesting.  This was the first book that I have read by this author and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I purchased some flowers at the local supermarket – just because they made me smile.  Gerbera and rose go so well together – don’t you think?

Now a shout out to Lisa@LismorePaper  – I purchased a couple of magazines and these two A4 cards fell out – I immediately thought of you.  They look very vintage.

They are printed either side so you can choose which way round you would frame them.

Bye for now.

Sunday Sewing – 12th May 2019

Hi everybody,

Well the seasons are changing and the days are flying by ……. cannot believe we are almost half way through May already.  I have been busy once more with many projects:

Lady Greensleeves –  30th April 2019

Lady Greensleeves – 11th May 2019

Audrey Hepburn

Also completed some more of my patchwork quilt tops – this is my Pirate quilt centrepiece.  By some piece of luck the little red star fish in the centre piece marks the spot.  Wasn’t quite sure how to start with this quilt and had to make some minor adjustments as I had forgotten that the sand bits which are 1 oblong piece did not allow for a seam adjustment and had to undo a couple of pieces.  Live and learn!!

I have also started a new colouring project – this time it features butterflies.  Whilst it requires concentration and a steady hand – this is just such a peaceful past-time.

Lastly at work I have retrieved Carmen and this is how she looked on 5th May 2019 and second picture is how she looks now.  These ladies are going to look great together.  At the bottom is a picture of how the previous lady (Maude) looks.

So that is all the news on the sewing front – see another post for the something different.

Thanks for stopping by.

W.I.P Sunday

Hi everyone

It’s a week of new starts and finishes and generally WIP’s.

To begin, I have finished colouring the owls.  I have added a new colour scheme – the Pink Breasted Brown Eyed Owl.

owls brown eyed

Here is a before:

owls plain

and after:

owls 3

It’s quite good fun and very absorbing  – so stress busting I suppose.  I’m not sure how much more I will colour – maybe just the flower stem between the owl’s feet.  Also not decided what I am going to do with the material.

Also progressed with Audrey:

Sunday 5th May 2019

I will probably stitch the eyes last as I had the funny experience of someone watching me when I stitched my American Indian cross-stitch.

And some stitching at work.  I’m amazed that anything was achieved as had to cover for a colleague who was on holiday, and do my own job – very busy week.

Firstly some bookmarks have been started:

last but not least – a little more on Carmen

Sunday 5th May

Well hope you had a lovely week and thank you for taking a peak at my efforts.

Bye  for now.

Sunday Birdy Bytes

Hi Hetty Here,

How can one weekend to the next be so different, last week I was outside being spruced up by my human mummy, this week I am staying inside, having a Sunday play date.  Although I felt quite tired, but flew around the room a few times investigating areas and seeing what mummy has been up to.

This is part of my birthday present a connecting route to the play stand.  Only had a slight nibble so far – it takes me time to get used to things.

Stealing a kiss from mummy.

Friday Funday

Hi everyone

Hope your Friday has been ok – mine has been rather busy.  Awoke quite early and proceeded with stitching Lady Greensleeves, then done some colouring of the owls.  My husband has repaired the window frame to the rear of the property and also repaired the door fresh hold leading outside.  Then we went grocery shopping and I had to get some bird food and sanding sheets for her cage.

After a very nice chicken burger meal in Burger King we returned home , packed the groceries away, and then I washed the car – not the way hubby would have done it but at least it looks cleaner – no doubt it will rain shortly judging by the gloomy clouds that have appeared.

Now I am sewing up the squares of the “Beside the Sea Quilt” and they are either in 4’s or 2’s so fair progress in that quarter.

I also have news of a new start – this time it is Audrey Hepburn – I hope I do her justice.

She is my favourite.  Does anyone know of an image for Sophia Loren?  – my husband worships her.  Also perhaps one for “The Duke” John Wayne?

Finally some more unfurling pictures in our garden

Ferns

The ferns look a bit weird at the start –  to the point where my husband thought something odd was growing on the rhododendron – I assured him they were the young fern fronds.  Sure enough 3 days later and they are growing upwards.  (Little Shop of Horrors – plant in that film comes to mind)

Rhododendron

This how it looked 2 weeks ago

and now after the hot weekend we had over Easter

open rhododendren

and finally this is Rodney our Runner

duck – hubby will not let me have real ones.

Well that’s all folks

Easter presents

Hi

Hope everybody had a lovely Easter Break – mine was quiet and peaceful, and enjoyed the sunny weather.

As you know I suffer migraine headaches and one of the major allergies that go with that is being allergic to chocolate.  Therefore, the Easter Egg thing has never really enthralled me.  My husband bought me some flowers instead – well to be correct I chose them – he paid.  I got him a little Lindt Easter Bunny as he already had some Cadbury’s Cream Eggs and a large Easter Egg from his daughter.  See pictures below:

I love the frothy fragility of gypsophelia (is that how you spell it) and the little  creamy white roses are tinged with green.  They are so tightly packed waiting to unfurl.

And here are my Husband’s presents:

Well that is all for now.  Going to do some sewing before the Holiday has passed.

Hetty’s Birthday

hetty-sunbathing-2.jpgHi there, Hetty here – sunning myself.

It’s my Birdday  23rd April – I know that is tomorrow but mummy is back to work tomorrow-  (birthday for birds) – I am 15 years old and can be quite the naughty teenager.  Hopefully if it is not too breezy my human mummy says that I can go outside in my cage in this nice sunny Easter Break.  I have a harness but progress in me wearing this is slow – can not get used to it yet and so I have to stay in my cage when outside as I am fully flighted and get spooked easily – do not want to loose my mummy through flying away and getting lost.

Now for my presents:-

Birthday present 15th B'Day 2

I have one of those wheelie things in my cage but have shredded most if it.  That other one looks fun and chewable he! he!  And I spy food yummy!!!

Birthday present 15th B'Day 1

Ahh!  new toy making parts and some new rope for my rope ladder swing.  Yippee!!!!

Sunny Funday

Hi Hetty here,

Hope all you human bird lovers and others are having a wonderful Easter Break.  I am certainly happy that my human mummy can spend more time with me.  Lots of time to cuddle and snuggle.

First 1 stole a kiss then it was time for head scratching and chewing mummy’s thumb nail.

Then after a fly around settled back on mummy for a preen (give a girl some privacy please!).

Finally another kiss and sniff .

Love Hetty

Beside the Sea Quilt

Hi

I am on a roll after the Bee Quilt Finish – I have continued to sew the Beside the Sea Quilt in sections of four.  This is how it looks so far:-

And some close ups

Again ironing needs to be done to flatten the seams but I’m rather tired now so that will have to be a job for another day.

What has everybody else been up to this Bank Holiday?
